2-Night Event on America's Political Division Features Award-Winning 'Purple State of Mind' Film Screening

The Village Square hosts filmmaker John Marks for screening and pizza dinner

(TALLAHASSEE, FL) — August 11, 2010 — On Sunday, August 15, The Village Square, FSU’s Student Life Cinema and the Tallahassee Film Festival will host a special screening of the film Purple State of Mind: Finding Middle Ground in a Divided Culture. The film won the Audience Choice Award in the 2009 Tallahassee Film Festival.

The screening will be held at the FSU Student Life Cinema on the FSU campus with filmmaker, journalist, 60 Minutes former producer John Marks in attendance. The screening is open to the general public and admission is free.

On Monday, August 16, Marks will join The Village Square for a Dinner at the Square pizza dinner to discuss America’s growing partisan political divide. Dinner tickets are $5.00 with a limited number of scholarship tickets available for free.

The events are part of a Village Square project through the Community Foundation of North Florida to create informed and engaged communities for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

The Village Square, a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) public educational forum organized by a diverse group of community leaders, seeks to improve the factual accuracy and civility of our public discourse.
